Why I wrote this course

I'm Neil Davidson. I have taught cinema design and calibration for most of my career. My calibration tutorials have been on AVForums since 2009. I developed the original home cinema design training that the industry’s trade associations teach today. Since 2016 I have also made projection screens, as one of the owners of Display Technologies. I have also built the free Cinema Tools calculators.

The same questions came back in every room. Where does the screen go? How far back should people sit? Why is the bass fine in one seat and gone in the next? Cinema Expert answers them, without a classroom.

What it is

It is written for private cinemas. Each module takes about an hour: reading, a short video, a task with a free Cinema Tools calculator, and a quiz. Every figure in it is worked for a real room.

The certificate records that you completed a module. It is not a qualification, and it certifies no room.
